The use of DNA as a molecular wire is
explored by Peng Xie, Hiroyuki Teramae,
Kai Liu, and Yuriko Aoki in the article
on page 489. This theoretical investigation
focuses in detail on the influence of the
base composition and base sequence on
the DNA conductivity, highlighting the role
of the special guanine base in the charge
transfer process, in which it can form an
electron loss center.
